Greetings Mr. Stubbs:
First of all I would like to thank you for your web site. It's very informative and a great way to keep in touch with our field of work, keeping it interesting.
I also wanted to mention that I have been using the light bulb test method that you mentioned in your "Tips and hints" for finding a short, for quite some time. I like using a temporary tail (a light bulb socket with a phase and a neutral wires).
Question, How can I skip your message when calling to request inspections? Not that I don't like to hear your voice, but if I'm calling for two or three inspections at once, I would like to just go to the point is money, or at least that's what they say.
Bueno Sr Stubbs, me da mucho gusto saludarlo aunque sea por medio del correo electronico.

Thanks for the speedy response, I knew a topnotch inspector as yourself would steer me in the right direction. As a matter of fact Central had just the panel I was looking for at a great price... $65 for a 200 amp MB 40/40. Hey the main breaker will do just fine. The enclosure is the same size.

MR. STUBBS
OUR CONVERSATION TODAY WAS VERY INTERESTING. I WENT TO YOUR WEB SITE NOT REALIZING THAT YOU OFFERED EDUCATIONAL CLASSES FOR CODE UPDATES. I'D LIKE TO BE ON YOUR MAILING LIST FOR FUTURE CLASSES AND SEMINARS. THANKS FOR SHARING YOUR PERSONAL KNOWLEDGE AND FEELINGS ABOUT YOURSELF. I PERSONALLY CAN APPRECIATE YOUR STRAIGHT-FORWARDNESS AND HONESTY.
THANKS

Ed,
I wanted to send you a note of "thanks" and to tell you I passed the
non-restricted state test with a grade of 82. This was my first time taking
the test. Before I took your class ( Sept. to Nov. 2002 ) I could not find
anything in the code book. Now I can proudly say that is no longer a
problem. Your class was extremely helpful in every way. Most everything you
covered was on it in some way or fashion. Some areas I remembered questions
over was in the healthcare areas ( How many receptacles are in a general
care patient room? ). In fact, there were a lot of questions from all the
"special" chapters ( 5,6, & 7 ). Motors were covered a good deal also, tell
your students to know all the winding taps and how to properly protect the
motor. But if they can find stuff in the code book, they shouldn't have any
problems. Also, let your students know that the only books they will
probably need on the test are the N.E.C., the American Electricians
Handbook. The tax guide, and maybe the contractors book and federal safety
book(?). The Printreading book is a waste of money. These do not have
to be current, either. Other people taking the test had books as old as
1996. I went and bought all new textbooks because they told me that was all
that could be brought in, but they do not care.

Thank you for an interesting and valuable web-site. I found it whilst scouring the web for information about voltage gradients emanating from large main distribution switchboards in the vicinity of pools.
Yours came close to what I was looking for (but not quite close enough).
The building I am designing for is a proposed underwater film studio, with an indoor pool 40 meters x 40 meters with depths varying from 1.5 to 6 meters. A lot of water! It is proposed to place a 2000 Amp main switchboard in an enclosed elevated switch room only a few meters from the pool and I am concerned about voltage gradients from nearby earthing rods in the event of an earth fault. I can find plenty of information about general bonding and safety in the pool vicinity but little seems to be written about the case I outlined.
Are you aware of any web-sites that could cover such situations?

Hey Ed,
I was in your Electrician's Exam Review class last fall, however the Electrical Board denied my application for the Nov. Test. I had to write a letter to the board explaining my experience. In Dec. they approved my application for the March test. I was a little nervous because I became comfortable with the 1999 code book. But after taking your advice(Study, Study, Study), I felt better about the 2002 code book. Needless to say and much thanks to you, I passed the Class 1 exam. I just wanted to thank you for all your help.
Sincerely,

Hey Mr. Stubbs, yes I passed with a 80. The difficult parts of the test were mainly motors, motor controls, transformers, Federal code, lots of ? from the American Electrical Handbook. When I received my license, it mentions following the GA. Electrical Contractors rules and guide lines. I was offered a position with an engineering firm to start their electrical contracting division. They pay all expenses and salary get all leads, for the use to incorporate my license. What do you think?

Ed, I passed the test for Class 1 licensing. I will be taking my Class 2 licensing this March. I will be stopping by the school one day to visited you. I am interested in finding out the requirement to become an inspector for The DeKalb County. Once again, Thank you.

Mr. Stubbs,
I just wanted to say thanks for the time I spent in your Master Electrician Exam class in the spring of 2003. The board denied me taking the test in July but after I wrote them a letter explaining who I was and who taught me(Mrrrr. Stubbs), they said "Mrrrrr. Stubbs well OK THEN!!!" So in November 2003 I took the test and passed with a 86. Thanks again for all your help.
P.S. Suggestion: Spend more time on branch and feeder circuits for motors and a little more on transformers.

Mr. Stubbs I got my (George Waddy class that finished on 3/09/04) test results today and would like to thank you for your prep class, seems as though it helped me out. I believe one of the things that helped me the most and would have liked to see more of were the quizzes and mock tests.
my test results were pleasing to see, it is a 94% on my first attempt, I have one question for you. What do I have to do to get my license #? Is there a web site where I can check my license or will it arrive in the mail.
thanks again for the effort you put into your work and teaching.
Sincerely,
Master George

ED I have been meaning let you know I passed the test in December with a 93 and would be willing to discuss with you what I found difficult and what in your course was very useful I did notice that the only load questions where general load based on square footage nothing else and out of the 20 or so others taking the test that I spoke with told me the same, of course there were hundreds more who could say the opposite.

Hello Mr. Stubbs,
Hope all is well. Just wanted to let you know that, thanks to you, I passed the Basic Electricity Test yesterday. It was not too bad. Some of the questions were asked in "round about way" to try to confuse you. Not too many calculation problems- maybe 10 or 11 but they were pretty basic and simple in nature-not involved at all- just the basic Ohms Law applications. I am so glad it's over so I can get on with the next challenge, Basic Electronics.
Take care.

Mr. Stubbs,
Justin Jenkins here. I took your Master Electrician review class and was real impressed with the way you helped me prepare to pass my state exam. I got an 80 on my first try! So I was wondering if you are teaching any classes on breaker AIC ratings this year? I remember you saying it is something we should be very aware of. I don't do much design build, but I would still like to learn about it. Thanks for your time.

Hey Mr Stubbs,
I took your class at Gwinnett Tech back in the spring but was unable to take the state exam due to my other classes. I have just completed an Associate of Arts (AA) degree in Physics at Georgia Perimeter College with a perfect 4.0 GPA. I have been elected to the National Dean's List for the second year in a row and was chosen as "Student of the Semester" for the Principles of Physics II spring 2007 semester. Previously, I was chosen as "Student of the Semester" for the Principles of Chemistry I in the fall semester of 2005 and also for the Principles of Chemistry II in the spring semester of 2006. I was even interviewed to be featured in the UAW-GM People magazine; the article will be published later this year.
I plan on taking the state electrical contractor's exam this fall on 10-24-2007. Thank you for posting the information of the ISBN number for the Georgia contractors book on your website. I ordered one of those because the book I had was an old second edition with pages missing. I will work back through your exercises to prepare for the exam. If I pass the exam, I will send you an e-mail and possibly visit your class to tell of my experience in taking the exam.
Thank You for all your help,
Barry R. Dunn

Dear Ed,
Last January I took your class, Master Electrician Exam Review. I am happy to say that I passed the exam in no small part due to what I learned in your class.
It is now time for me to renew my license, and I am looking for a continuing education class. It is my hope that you will instruct this class as well. Please add my name to your list of potential students should you decide this is something you will do.
Sincerely,
Randy Kuser

Hello Mr Stubbs,
I took your master electrician exam preparation class at Gwinnett Tech in the spring of 2007. I did not take the state exam until this fall because I wanted to complete an AA in Physics at GPC first. However, I did pass the unrestricted class II electrical contractors exam on the first try with a grade of 77. I thought that was pretty good considering all that I forgot over the summer. Thank you for all of your help! I would also like to thank you for posting on your website the required books and where to buy them.

I finish 1 ½ hrs. before anybody, and I double check all my answers. I'm going for the low voltage now let me know if you have any classes.
